How to Research
Sciencitific research is published first in journals. These journals articles contain details of experiments, or more rarely a review of the current state of knowledge. Much later this information may be summarized and put into textbooks but to keep up you need to search the literature.
Journals make money by selling access to their publications but there is a growing movement to open up the publications to anyone who wants to look. You can find lots of free articles and if you can get to a university campus (with a list of closed journals you want) you can go to the library, find the articles and either print them or save them as pdf.
