Protein Alignments

Similar to sequence alignments you can align protein structures. Protein folds are more conserved than protein sequence so protein alignments can provide some valuable information for alignments of more divergent sequences. Protein structure data is stored in .pdb files.

  • Swiss Pdb Viewer lets you look at pdb files. You can also do structural alignments of two different protein structures.
  • VAST Precomputed multiple structure alginments from NCBI.
